First Chapter:

A Dream Comes True

I climbed to the top of the hill and stopped to catch my breath. Below me lay a small valley, lush and green after the recent bout of heavy rains, a much needed downpour which had finally broken a four year drought. On all sides were steep hills covered in towering ghost gums and a sense of tranquility settled upon me. 'My goodness' I thought to myself, 'it is all finally coming true. Everything Wen Shu told me all those years ago is now beginning to manifest'.

My thoughts were rudely interrupted at this point by a familiar voice. 'Did you have doubts on this matter my son?' I almost leapt into the air at these words. 'W.. Wen Shu? Is that really you - after all this time?' I whispered. 'But of course my son, I am never far away, as you must surely know.

Hanging my head I replied 'Well, yes... I know that you are around at particular times and that you occasionally come to speak with the students, but there has been little direct contact between us for some considerable time.' I could discern the humour in his familiar voice as he replied 'Come, come my son, it is not always necessary for me to appear before you as I once did, but I am always within reach.' A little ashamed of myself, I hung my head.

'Enough of that', he continued, 'let us discuss the future'. Pointing to the valley below and to the foot of the hill upon which I stood in particular, Wen Shu began to outline the development which was to take place. So many years before - when I was in my mid-thirties - he had begun to tell me of a time ahead when I would be able to practice the healing art in the midst of a natural amphitheatre drawing upon the powers of the Nature Kingdom to benefit the sick.

As I looked around me I could now see the environment that he had so long ago described. 'My son, here around this hill, construct the buildings which will become the healing temple. Let this become a point of regeneration. Upon the sides of the hill, fashion a series of small secluded gardens wherein all may come to meditate or to ponder upon the beauty of the plants and the simple statuary you erect therein.

'Deep within your subconscious mind there are memories of an earlier lifetime in ancient Greece, a time when you studied the healing arts within a great centre of light, later serving therein. It has long been your desire to re -establish the healing temple'.

'However the past must be put behind you. You should now endeavour to create a healing point which will fulfill the needs of mankind today. In this undertaking you must at all times cooperate with the angelic being whose domain this is, and the devic forces who serve her. Should you ignore my words and force unwise changes upon the land, you may well rue the day'.

His voice was gentle as he placed his hand upon my shoulder and pointed to a clearing at the furthermost part of the valley. Almost hidden within it, overgrown with noxious weeds and tall grass, was a tumbledown wooden building owner of this land. 'There my son, within that clearing, establish the meditation temple. It has powerful energies and although you can see it not, it is bounded by the creek'.

'Around the building, which must be simple in its design, fashion a mandala. Draw a great circle at the furthermost boundaries of the clearing. Within this, place a square with a cross at its centre. The temp]e itself will stand at its heart and the mandala will serve to intensify the energy therein, protecting all who seek inspiration.'

Pointing to an area overgrown with tobacco bush and lantana adjacent to the clearing he continued. 'Site a small pond or lake at that point my son, for it will provide the meditation temple with a serene outlook and serve to block any negativity.'

Beaming at me Wen Shu placed his arm about my shoulder, directing my attention to the area of the creek. With the recent heavy rains a waterfall had sprung into life, its roar clearly discernable here, high atop the hill. 'Do you remember my son that long ago I advised you that the land you finally settled upon must also have within its boundaries a pool of living water?'

'How could I ever forget?' I responded, for in that particular communication my beloved mentor had gone on to say that above the pool I should erect a pyramid of light. He had also told me that the pool would eventually become a sacred spot, playing a role in an initiation ceremony, for those dedicated individuals selected for the inner or core group, who would be responsible for the greater work to be undertaken within this point of light. 'It took me more than two years to discover just how I might fashion a pyramid of light!' I continued rather heatedly.

He beamed at me. 'Well my son, it would not do for me to provide you with all information, there are certain things you must discover for yourself '. Directing my attention to the area about the waterfall once more he continued. 'Adjacent to the fall you will soon discover a small rock hollow, through which the living waters will flow. You will need to undertake some construction work, but by and large Mother Nature has fashioned the pool for you'.

His expression then became very serious. 'There are still many tests ahead, not only for you my son, but also for those who have joined you in this venture. Take care. The tensions will be great and the link of friendship is fragile. Be patient and all will come to pass - but perhaps not as you may anticipate'. With that Wen Shu vanished and I was alone once more high atop the hill.
